Burns & Beyond Conference – 15th January 2011

Glasgow University’s Centre for Robert Burns Studies is hosting a half-day conference entitled Burns and Beyond to which Burns lovers are warmly invited.

Saturday 15th January 2011

1pm – 6.30pm Western Infirmary Lecture Theatre, Glasgow

A varied programme includes contributions from key speakers including

  • Dr Gerry Carruthers
  • Pauline Mackay
  • Frank Shaw
  • Professor Nigel Leask.
  • Dr Natalia Kaloh Vid

Content including the ideological adaptation of our bard’s poetry in  the former Soviet Union and music by Kirsten Easdale.

The programme will conclude with Esme Kennedy giving an outline of the BBC Robert Burns Project.

There will also be exhibits from the renowned Hunter McQueen Collection of Burns memorabilia and a stall of Burns gifts, made in Scotland in honour of Burns presented by Robert Burns Gifts.

The event costs £10 and tickets can be purchased in advance from the Centre for Robert Burns Studies, or at the door.
