"Should auld acquaintance be forgot, And auld lang syne?"

And on the reverse:

"Burns lived during a time of huge social transition when people were leaving the land to work in the new factories. As the old ways were being lost, so were the songs and traditions which accompanied them. Burns toured Scotland collecting folk songs and tunes. Saved for posterity by Burns, Auld Lang Syne is popularly sung today across the world to herald in the new year."
